Our Pre-School

Our Nursery provides the highest standards of care and education and has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted (2020). We continually strive to deliver the best possible care and environment for your child. We have highly qualified staff caring for your children, CCTV on the door entry and monitoring the sleep area ensuring your child is safe and protected at all times.

The Nursery caters for children aged six weeks to two years, with dedicated areas supporting babies to reach their first milestones.

Taster sessions are offered to encourage a smooth introduction to the Nursery. To promote children’s sense of feeling safe and secure each child will have their own keyperson who will build close relationships with both the children and parent / carers. The keyperson will plan appropriate activities for the children to support their early development in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Children learn best when they are having fun and activities are planned to meet individual needs. Practitioners provide a range of rich experiences that both stimulate and challenge children to reach their full potential. Activities provided are a balance of structured and child let play.

Parent / carers are kept fully informed of their child’s day through a diary and an online assessment, Tapestry, which promotes parental participation.

Our Pre-School is split into Room 1 and Room 2.

Room 1 is for children aged 2-3 years of age.
Our 2-3 year old room provides the best experiences for your children, considering every stage of development. We recognise that your children are really starting to ‘find their feet’ and often want to feel independent as well as supported. Practitioners are dedicated to ensuring your child’s days at preschool are fun, challenging and stimulating through play based activities and adult and child initiated learning.

Room 2 is for children in their final year at pre-school.
Practitioners in Room 2 are dedicated to ensuring your child’s final year at preschool is fun, challenging and stimulating through play based activities and adult and child initiated learning. In this room your child’s individual needs will be met, equipping them with the tools they need to complete the final phase of learning and development before heading off to their new adventure at ‘big’ school.

We offer both a Breakfast Club and Out of School Club to help parents that may need childcare for a variety of reasons such as work commitments or training. Experienced staff ensure every child enjoys their session in the club.

Places for Out of School Club are limited. Priority will be given to children who have attended Waltham Pre-School.

You can book regular or occasional places.

Please note, that all cancelled and unused sessions will be charged at the full price.

Parents may collect their child at any time during the session.

Children staying for after school activities such as tennis, football, dance etc. may still join our after school provision and will be collected by OOSC staff.

During the school holidays we operate a Holiday Club for children aged 2 to 11 years, for children who attend our Pre-School and Waltham Leas Academy.

The Holiday Club has limited opening during the Christmas holiday period.
